Mini-rant

Are proper punctuation and good grammar really so difficult? Do schools not insist on them any more?

Seriously...I've seen things online that my eight-year-old could correct, and they weren't written by non-English speakers. One might argue for message over format, but who would buy food in dirty packaging?

Practice improves everything, so why leave the grammar in the English classroom and write like an ignorant fool everywhere else?

Hear hear!

I was testing out playing one of my computer games in a multiplayer online setting for the first time a few weeks ago, and, well, I was 'stupid' enough to visit a chat room so I could ask someone what the do's and don'ts are, because I'm a complete and utter n00b. Not a one person I encountered was particularly literate, and my correctly written sentances--with proper punctuation...gasp!--were apparantly too hard to understand properly. Shocked me, even though I recall AOL chatrooms from 5 years ago...people on my own message board don't do that...but then, we all get testy with those who do and they just don't post, thank god.
