We drove down to the base and watched the fireworks from the ship. Now, I knew it was going to be a good show as many of the local San Diego cities have started doing the simultaneous shows syncronized to one of the radio stations. I knew the fireworks were going to be pretty much right across the bay from where the ship is moored. What I didn't consciously think about was that we'd be able to see SIX displays. Impressive! When the smoke obscured one area, all I had to do was look another way. The fireworks were beautiful! GW was absolutely the best possible place to watch from tonight.

And then it took two hours to get off the base, off Coronado, and home. But it was worth it. It's not like we can do it next year, eh? Because the fire didn't mess us up that bad.
