Independence II

We did do some work this morning, although reveille was delayed an extra
hour. Too bad my body didn't know it could sleep in.

CO had us all up on the flight deck, where he appointed some CAPs (Command
Advancement Program: where he basically uses his authority to advance some
deserving sailors who didn't get selected from the advancement exam) and
gave out a few awards from the exercise we just wrapped up. Rather nice way
to celebrate.

Then the First Class Petty Officers put on the picnic. My leading ET1 was
busy all morning setting up for it.

Independence III

And I'd proudly stand up next to you and defend her still today....

It's playing on the flight deck over my head. They've cut the cake--with
luck, it's better than your average Navy cake--although I tend to stay away
from sugary temptation and so am down here in the office working on a few

I'll have watch later. I don't mind having watch--it's just another part of
the workday. Perhaps I shall spend it working on my Fitness Report input.
I do have stuff to put on it, unlike the ones I had to do at ATG.

Too bad I will only have been onboard for six months instead of a full year.
We'll see how that plays out.
