Let me just say that I am thankful for boring days. In the Navy, as an electronics technician, boring is good. Boring means that nothing is broken, no one is having a crisis, someone isn't asking for something that they really wanted done yesterday, security and shore patrol aren't involved, and there's no smoke or flooding.

Boring is good.

And while I'm at it, there are a whole lot of other things that I take for granted. Water when I turn on the tap. Streets without a sewer running down the middle. Chewing gum. Bookstores full of nearly everything one can imagine, and the rest available by special order. Electricity and gas. Gasoline readily available (if not so cheap as it used to be.) The right to choose where my child attends school. Heck, school for my child! The safety to walk alone at night in many places. Safe, uncontaminated food. Access to medical care. Fat kitty cats. Voting.

And the chance to achieve anything I'm willing to work for.
