High in the sky, piled early this afternoon like rainclouds bunched against the mountains. By the time I got out of class, the upper winds had diffused some of it, so now, it looked like mountains with rainclouds bunched against them along with streamers of white curling around. Lower down, the haze was brown ahead of me as I drove with the setting sun flashing in my rearview mirror.
Yeah. Fire season's back. 2000 acres so far, which sounds impressive until it's compared with last year's big fires. There's lots of city between me and this one, though, and I feel vaguely guilty about feeling good about that.
I wish I could be out of this dessicated city before the Santa Anas come back this fall.
